MAYVILLE, Wis. (SPECTRUM NEWS) - Much of Wisconsin is still drying out after being hit hard by storms on Tuesday and Wednesday. One area that felt the effects particularly hard is Dodge County. Portions of the county saw nearly five inches of rainfall. In communities like Mayville, the impact is clear.

St. John Lutheran School was closed Wednesday after water flooded the school’s gym, lunchroom, and several classrooms. Parents and students came together Wednesday to help get the water out of the building and clean the floors.

“Teachers and staff were already here mopping up the water, whatever they could absorb.’’ Says parent and School Trustee Josh Unger.

Several businesses near the East Branch of the Rock River also feeling the effects. Staff at Fox Den Nursery had water up to their sign at the entrance to their business. While they hope the water will quickly recede, they say it has created a mess.

No injuries have been reported as a result of flooding in Dodge County. Staff with Dodge County Emergency Management say portions of Highway 28 remain closed in the county due to high water.
