MADISON, Wis (SPECTRUM NEWS) - During a difficult period, a special class gives Dane County inmates the meditation needed to focus on the present. Every Saturday for one hour, volunteers offer female offenders yoga. The effort helps the inmates cope with sores caused by the hard cots and gives them a chance to stretch out.
"If we can help them by making it better with the yoga, helps with the relaxation, anxiety, anger, I think it’s a really good thing," Dane County Sheriff’s Office's Lori Prieur said.
The program is seven years old and is staffed by volunteers who divide the year up so that every Saturday, inmates always have the option to participate.
