LAKE GENEVA, Wis. (SPECTRUM NEWS) -- A tradition continues on Geneva Lake as a new generation of mail boat jumpers take to the water to test out their skills. Lake Geneva is home to one of the only mail routes in the United States that is delivered by boat. Mail boat jumpers must hop off the boat, run to the mailbox on the dock, and return to the boat all without the vessel stopping.

Sixteen year old Ava Pezza of Lake Geneva was among those giving jumping a try. It is something she has wanted to do since she first rode the mail boat at age 3.

“I saw the mail jumpers and in the back of my head I always just thought I wanted to do, to be a part of, I grew up here so its just really cool to be a part of.”  Says Pezza

While she just barely made it back to the boat without falling in the water, Pezza was successful. Staff with the Lake Geneva Cruise Line says they are happy every year to see new people excited about carrying on this summertime tradition.
