The Green Bay Packers’ 27-10 loss to the New York Jets Sunday at Lambeau Field was uncomfortable to watch.
It may be too early to say this, but it felt like a slap in the face. The Packers are 3-3 and, at least right now, simply not as good as they used to be. Or what many expected.
It felt like a jolt of reality.
All three units had some responsibility for the Packers’ dismal showing. The Jets stifled the offense. The defense continues to underwhelm. And the special teams gave up a blocked punt for a touchdown (reminding everyone of the playoff loss to the 49ers), as well as a blocked field goal.
Now, it feels like the Packers’ season is at a crossroads. Already two games behind the first-place Vikings, the Packers play their next three games on the road. They’re not back at Lambeau Field until Nov. 13, when Mike McCarthy and the Cowboys come to town.
We’re going to find out a lot about the Packers between now and then.
