CANTON, Ohio. — As I watched the pictures being taken of LeRoy Butler and the Pro Football Hall of Fame Class of 2022 Friday morning, I couldn’t help but think of the Packers’ large contribution to the NFL.

The current members of the Hall of Fame who attended the pictures ceremony included Dave Robinson, James Lofton and Ron Wolf.

Later, when I went inside the Hall, there’s an enormous picture of Vince Lombardi. One of the players in the picture is the late Willie Davis.

In this Jan. 14, 1968 photo, Green Bay Packers coach Vince Lombardi is carried off the field after his team defeated the Oakland Raiders 33-14 in Super Bowl II in Miami, Fla. (AP Photo)

When you look at the previous classes here, names jump out at you. Curly Lambeau. Don Hutson. Ray Nitschke. Brett Favre. And many others.

I think sometimes those of us in Wisconsin take it for granted. There is no NFL without the Packers.

The legends built in Green Bay will live on as long as there’s football and a Hall of Fame.
