In 1957, the Milwaukee Braves won Game 7 of the World Series in New York. In 1971, the clinching game for the Bucks' NBA championship was in Baltimore. When Marquette won the NCAA title in 1977, the championship game was in Atlanta.

I know, the Brewers won the American League pennant in 1982 at Milwaukee County Stadium. I was there as a fan and it was great fun. Still, it wasn't the World Series. The Brewers lost that in seven games to St. Louis.

The Packers won the 1939 NFL Championship at State Fair Park in Milwaukee. No, I did not cover that game.  I'm old, but I'm not that old. Since then, the NFL Championships or Super Bowls the Packers have won were not in Milwaukee.

So, of the three biggest sports, it's been a long time since Milwaukee had a chance to celebrate a title won at home.

It seems to me that the City of Milwaukee has been through a lot. The summer of 2020 was supposed to be special for Milwaukee with the Democratic National Convention and the pandemic changed all of that. Even recently, national talking heads took their shots at a city they know nothing about. I think Milwaukee deserves something great.

If the Bucks pull it off Tuesday night, savor it. Enjoy it. It's a rare spectacle.
