MILWAUKEE (SPECTRUM NEWS) -- Brewers fans will be happy to know that Christian Yelich is staying in Milwaukee for a long time. 

The new deal is seven years for $188.5 million. He will get those seven years on top of his remaining two years on his existing contract. The deal also includes a mutual option for 2029. 

It puts Yelich among the top 20 highest-paid players in Major League history. 

“I could not be happier that I am a Milwaukee Brewer for the next decade,” Yelich said. “I want to thank the Brewers organization, my teammates, and the best fans in baseball for their support. I am excited to be staying in Milwaukee and playing the game that I love for this amazing city.”

 

 

Yelich is a career .301/.383/.492 hitter with 139 HR, 500 RBI, and 124 stolen bases in his four years with Miami and two years with Milwaukee. 

He was voted the 2018 National League MVP in his first season with teh Brewers. He finished second in the MVP voting last year to the Dodgers' Cody Bellinger.
