Five years after Zion Clark was killed in a shooting on Second Street, his case remains unsolved while his mother and sister continue to search for answers.

Tiffany brought two lives into the world, Zion and Zaria, and believed that they both were headed for great futures. But on March 29, 2020, Zion’s life was cut short at just 20 years old.

“I miss everything about my son," Tiffany said. "Everything. “I miss everything about my son," Tiffany said. "Everything. The looks, the smile, his smell.”

Zion graduated high school with a certificate in welding while his sister had completed a nursing assistant program.

According to the Lexington Homicide Investigations database, there are 41 open homicides cases in Lexington from 2020 to 2025. Police report 38 of those cases have no suspects.

Clark knows she’s not alone, and she’s urging others to come forward with what they know about her son’s case or any other cold case.

“I want to change the impact of the scenario of everybody seeing don't tell their snitches, when you are witness to someone being murdered, someone being shot, someone being raped, someone being whatever the scenario may be,” she said.

Despite the growing years without closure, she said she remains hopeful someone will come forward.

“I still hold out faith,” she said.

The Clark family and community members gathered Saturday at the cemetery where Zion is buried for a balloon release to celebrate his life. Anyone with information about Zion Clark’s case or any other cold case is encouraged to contact the Lexington Police or Crime Stoppers.
