OHIO — The Cincinnati Zoo and Botanical Garden and the Columbus Zoo and Aquarium are getting national recognition after being chosen among the top 10 zoos in America.
The Columbus Zoo ranked third in the USA Today 10Best Readers' Choice Awards, and the Cincinnati Zoo took fifth place.
For the Cincinnati Zoo, it slipped from its second-place spot last year. But it was also ranked No. 2 for best botanical garden and No. 3 for best zoo memberships. This year is also its 150th anniversary.
"The Cincinnati Zoo, one of the oldest zoos in the nation, brings visitors nose-to-nose with a range of exciting animals," USA Today wrote in the rankings.
As for the Columbus Zoo, it's home to more than 10,000 animals of over 600 species, and it's become a frequent presence in USA Today's 10Best Readers' Choice Awards.
"From Heart of Africa, where giraffes can be spotted stretching their necks, to Asia Quest with its endangered red pandas, every region tells a different wildlife story," USA Today wrote in the rankings.
