OHIO — USA Today released its Best Bars of the Year list, which names two Ohio businesses.

What You Need To Know

  • USA Today said the decisions for the best bars were based off of its food writers, which were in search of "the best neighborhood taverns, the finest cocktail meccas, the coziest wine bars and the beachiest beach bars"

  • The first of Ohio businesses to be named was Law Bird in Columbus

  • The second was Longfellow in Cincinnati

USA Today said the decisions for the best bars were based off of its food writers, which were in search of "the best neighborhood taverns, the finest cocktail meccas, the coziest wine bars and the beachiest beach bars."

The first of Ohio businesses to be named was Law Bird in Columbus, with USA Today noting its interesting cocktails — like the pickled-carrot brine or seaweed-infused mezcal — as well as its changed drink menus, snacks and decor.

Law Bird came to Columbus in 2019 and is situated on South High Street in German Village and the Brewery District.

The second was Longfellow in Cincinnati, which USA Today said is perfect for a classic cocktail, a pilsner or an amaro. The report highlighted its rotating menu, which "features modern takes on old-school bar snacks, including radishes with salt and butter, German-style meat platters and tomato soup. All of them are wonderful."

Longfellow opened in Cincinnati's Over-the-Rhine neighborhood in 2017.
