DOOR COUNTY, Wis. — Over $2,400 has been raised in just over 24 hours for California wildfire relief by a Door County candle shop.
Door County Candle Company and Candle Bar, which has historically created candles to help in disasters, launched its “Golden State” candle on Thursday to support California.
All profits made from the sale of the candle will go directly to the American Red Cross to support those affected by fires, according to the business.
The business called the special candle “a symbol of solidarity during this challenging time.” Its scent, orange clover, is meant to pay tribute to the state’s orange groves.
In 2023, the small business created a candle for Maui, the “Liliko’i Candle,” after it endured tragic wildfires that left 102 people dead. That candle ended up raising over $60,000 to help those affected.
It’s most well known for raising $1 million for the nonprofit Razom for Ukraine with its “Ukraine Candle.”
“Now, as California endures its own tragedy, we hope to once again make an impact for those in need,” the business said on its website.
