GREEN BAY, Wis. — The Green Bay Packers host the New Orleans Saints Monday night at Lambeau Field.
This is the 32nd straight season that the Packers are on Monday Night Football. It’s a streak that goes back to 1993 and testifies to the Packers’ national TV rating appeal.
Here are three things to watch in the game.
Lambeau lights
The first three Packers home games on Monday Night Football were in Milwaukee because Lambeau Field didn’t have sufficient lights.
Extra lights were installed for an Oct. 1, 1979 game in Green Bay when Bart Starr’s Packers upset the heavily favored New England Patriots, 27-14.
History lesson
The Saints took Packers legend Paul Hornung in the 1967 expansion draft. He never played for New Orleans because of a neck injury. Another famous Packers running back did play for the Saints. Jim Taylor, who was born in Baton Rouge and played college football at LSU, finished his career with New Orleans in 1967.
Kamara in exclusive company
Saints running back Alvin Kamara is just the fourth player in NFL history to have at least 50 rushing touchdowns and 25 receiving touchdowns. The others are Christian McCaffrey and Hall of Famers Lenny Moore and Marshall Faulk.
The Packers lost both of their Monday night games last year, but they were both on the road. They were defeated by the Las Vegas Raiders and New York Giants.
