GREEN BAY, Wis. — Considering the opponent and the loud venue, Sunday night’s 30-13 Green Bay Packers victory in Seattle may have been their most impressive of the season.
It all started with Matt LaFleur’s game plan.
He heavily featured Josh Jacobs in the early going and the Seahawks had no answer. Jacobs touched the ball on nine of the Packers’ 10 plays on the opening drive. He surgically took the Seattle fans out of the game quickly and fittingly scored from the one-yard line to finish the drive.
The Packers established their physical superiority early.
Jordan Love has now gone four straight games without throwing an interception. He has cleaned up the one area of his game that was haunting the Packers. You can’t help but link his improved health with better decision making.
Jeff Hafley’s defense stifled the Seahawks offense. With Jaire Alexander missing another game with injury, the Green Bay secondary didn’t let Seattle’s talented receivers take over the game. Hafley’s consistent pressure on the Seahawks quarterbacks paid off.
The Packers are now 10-4. Because they lost both games to Detroit, the division title may be out of reach even with the Lions’ home loss to Buffalo.
That’s okay. If the Packers play like they did Sunday, they’re going to be a tough out in the playoffs in January. Wherever and whoever they play.
