GREEN BAY, Wis. — The 8-3 Packers will host the Miami Dolphins Thanksgiving night at Lambeau Field.
The Dolphins are 5-6, but are on a three-game winning streak.
This is only the second time the Packers have hosted a Thanksgiving Day game since 1923. The other occasion was 2015 when they honored Brett Favre and played the Bears.
Here are three things to watch in Thursday's game.
Rare opponents
These teams simply don't play each other very often. This is only the seventh time the Dolphins have played in Green Bay. The teams have split the first six.
Miami hasn't won at Lambeau Field since 2010. The series began in 1971. The Dolphins won nine of the first ten.
More recently, the Packers have won five of the last six.
Dominant against AFC
The Packers are 4-0 against AFC teams this season and are 11-2 at home against AFC teams under Matt LaFleur. The Packers' current six-game winning streak against AFC teams is tied for their longest since the 1970 merger. The other six-game winning streak was in 1995 and 1996.
Common coaching threads
Head coaches Matt LaFleur and Mike McDaniel know each other very well. They coached together in Houston, Washington and Atlanta.
The Packers linebackers coach, Anthony Campenile, was on the Dolphins staff and Miami linebackers coach Joe Barry was the Packers defensive coordinator.
There are many connections between these teams. Among them: Dolphins fullback Alec Ingold is from Bay Port and played for the Badgers. Miami's quarterbacks and passing game coordinator is former Badgers quarterback and Packers assistant coach Darrell Bevell.
