OAK CREEK, Wis. — Passion Watson, the 24-year-old former KinderCare worker accused of possession of cocaine after a 1-year-old in her care got drugs in his system, reached a plea deal.
On Monday, Nov. 18, Watson pleaded guilty to one count of possession of cocaine near a child care center, according to court records.
In May 2024, Kimberly Hopson noticed “several scratches and marks” on her son, Prince. She took him to Children’s Hospital of Wisconsin, where medical staff determined he had cocaine in his system. Police investigated the case, and the day care facility, where they found a backpack with cocaine inside. The back belonged to Watson, who admitted to using cocaine socially but denied knowing about the cocaine in her backpack. She was subsequently terminated from KinderCare and arrested by police.
On Monday, Watson was sentenced to 120 days in a community regulation center. However, the sentence was stayed. Watson has been put on probation for 12 months. Watson must also complete 100 hours of community service.
During her probation, Watson will serve 15 days at the community regulation center and will be eligible for Huber privileges — which allow an incarcerated person to leave jail for a certain number of hours a day to work. Her Huber privileges are applicable to “work, treatment and child care.”
Watson cannot have any contact with KinderCare’s Oak Creek location.
As part of her probation, Watson must remain completely sober and comply with any recommended treatment. She is not allowed to use of possess any controlled substances.
