ROCK COUNTY, Wis. — A man was killed and a woman injured in an industrial accident in Rock County on Saturday, the Rock County Sheriff’s Office confirmed.

The incident happened at an employee appreciation day being hosted by Rock Energy Cooperative at the Rock County 4-H Fairgrounds.

Police said they responded to the scene around 10:26 a.m. on Saturday, when they received a report of two people who had fallen from a boom truck.

Officials said during a demonstration of equipment on the truck, two people fell about 10 feet. The boom had been extended on the truck.

The man, a 59-year-old employee from Milton, and the woman, 62, were immediately transported to Mercy Trauma Center in Janesville. The man was pronounced dead at the hospital; the woman received treatment for her injuries.

Police said the names of the two will be released at a later date.

Several agencies responded to the scene, including the Janesville Fire and Janesville Police departments as well as members of the Rock County Sheriff’s Office Detective Bureau and Drone Team.

The investigation is now being turned over to Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) investigators.
