GREEN BAY, Wis. — The Green Bay Packers host the Houston Texans Sunday at noon at Lambeau Field.
This is only the sixth meeting, with the Packers holding a 4-1 edge.
Here are three things to watch in the game.
Head coaching history
Packers head coach Matt LaFleur started his NFL coaching career with Houston in 2008. At that time, current Texans head coach DeMeco Ryans was a player on the team. Before returning to Houston as head coach, Ryans was the defensive coordinator of the San Francisco 49ers.
Exciting QB matchup
This is a matchup of two of the NFL’s rising stars at quarterback. Jordan Love of the Packers and Houston’s C.J. Stroud. This season, Stroud has thrown 10 touchdown passes and four interceptions. Last season, when he was NFL Offensive Rookie of the Year, Stroud led the Texans to the playoffs and a postseason win.
He threw 23 touchdown passes with five interceptions. This season, Houston has added weapons with running back Joe Mixon and receiver Stefon Diggs.
Houston’s defense
The Texans defense is ranked among the NFL’s best. It is anchored by defensive end Will Anderson. He had three sacks Sunday against the Patriots and has five and a half for the season. It’s no surprise that Houston is 5-1 with a two game lead already in the AFC South division.
The Packers are 10-2 at home against AFC teams under LaFleur.
