WISCONSIN — The next Drug Take Back Day in Wisconsin is on Saturday, Oct. 26.

It’s a day when Wisconsinites are encouraged to dispose of unwanted or unused medications at collection sites across the state. Over 150 sites will participate in the upcoming national day, according to Wisconsin Department of Health Service.

Drug Take Back Day allows people to have a safe way to dispose of their unwanted and unused medications. It also aims to educate the community on the potential abuse or consequences of improper storage, which can lead to addiction.

Wisconsin DHS said that unused prescription should never be flushed or poured down the drain because it can cause contamination in rivers and lakes.

“Water reclamation facilities are not designed to remove all of them (unused medications) and trace amounts of pharmaceuticals are showing up in rivers and lakes around the world,” the Wisconsin Department of Justice said in a release.

If you have a medication you no longer need, want or can use, you can bring it to a drop box site, no questions asked. Businesses are not allowed to participate; only households can bring their unwanted medications to a site.

Here’s a look at what you can bring:
