GREEN BAY, Wis. — The 2-2 Packers will play the 1-3 Los Angeles Rams Sunday in California.
This will be the Packers’ first game in SoFi Stadium. They haven’t beaten the Rams in California since 1966. Remember that the Rams played in St. Louis for many years during that span.
Here are three things to watch Sunday:
Familiar foes
If it seems like these teams have played a lot in recent years, you're right. This is the fourth straight regular season the Packers and Rams have met. All of the meetings were in Green Bay and the Packers won. They also won a playoff meeting at Lambeau Field after the 2020 season.
The Packers have won eight of the last nine meetings. Including playoffs, this is the 100th meeting between the teams in a series that dates back to 1937.
Rams off to a rough start
The Packers might be catching the Rams at a good time. LA's receiving corps and offensive line have been hit hard by injuries. They lost Sunday to the Bears. Yet the Rams' lone win this season was a comeback victory over the 49ers, so you can't take them lightly. Many Packers fans are expected to be at the game Sunday, lessening the impact of home field advantage.
Family reunion
Packers Head Coach Matt LaFleur was the Rams' offensive coordinator under Sean McVay in 2017. LaFleur's brother, Mike, is now the Rams' offensive coordinator. Mike is a former assistant with the 49ers and Jets.
The Packers have seen Rams quarterback Matthew Stafford many times, dating back to his years with the Detroit Lions.
