MILWAUKEE — As with any massive construction project in a longstanding city's downtown area, crews have encountered a few surprises at the site of the new Milwaukee Public Museum. Work started at the lot near Fiserv Forum this past summer.
"Our site is just like every other downtown site," Katie Sanders, the chief planning officer for the Milwaukee Public Museum, said. "We've certainly run into some challenges, but we were anticipating some given where it is."
Still, Sanders said the work there remains on track with construction slated to wrap up in late 2026, and once exhibits are installed, the museum should open to the public in early 2027.
"Things are on track," Sanders said. "We were just able to put up our tower crane a couple days ago, so if you're near the site, you'll see a giant crane ready to start constructing the building once we get out of the ground."
