GREEN BAY, Wis. — Packers quarterback Jordan Love practiced on a limited basis Wednesday. It was his most extensive work since suffering a sprained MCL in Brazil.
A decision has not been made whether Love will play Sunday at Tennessee.
Love feared the worst when he suffered the knee injury in Brazil against the Eagles.
“When it happened, it was very painful," said Love.
"I was telling people, it was the most pain I've been in on the field. Just a lot of emotions. I didn't know in the moment what might have happened, what the injury actually was, how long I might be out. So it was definitely a scary moment, but it was very painful.”
Whenever Love returns, he says the injury might change his game a little bit by affecting his mobility.
Love wore a brace in practice Wednesday, something he's familiar with.
“I wore a knee brace in college when I tore my meniscus," said Love. "Nothing I'm not used to. Trying to make sure your mind's right for when you do get back on the field. Just making sure that there's no fear of re-injuring or anything like that. It's definitely feeling a lot better. So, trying to see how it feels every day. Keep doing the treatment, keep doing the rehab. I was out there today.”
Bottom line: will Love be able to play Sunday in Tennessee?
“I think it's always great to have your quarterback out there," said Packers Head Coach Matt LaFleur.
"But we'll see how he progresses throughout the course of the week.”
"I'm going to take the week and just take it day-by-day and see how it feels," said Love. "I'm not going to make any decision on that now. I'm hopeful that I'll get to that point where I can get in there. There's a lot of boxes, obviously. I think getting back at practice and doing that and feeling what it feels like to to take those drops, be in the line of fire, things like that. The trainer is doing a great job kind of monitoring me, seeing how I'm doing and how I'm reacting to everything. They'll be the ones that clear me when it comes.”
If Love can't play Sunday, Malik Willis would get his second start for the Packers at quarterback, against the team that drafted and traded him.
