GREEN BAY, Wis. — It wasn’t perfect. It never is. But Sunday’s 16-10 victory for the Green Bay Packers over the Indianapolis Colts at Lambeau Field was satisfying and impressive.

Once Jordan Love was officially declared inactive (because of the knee injury he suffered in Brazil) around 10:30 a.m. Sunday morning, the attention shifted to Malik Willis. Could the Packers win with him?

They ended up winning. Willis may not have been the only reason, but he deserves praise. Around three weeks into his stay in Green Bay, he was thrust in action and responded. He was 12 of 14 for 122 yards and a touchdown. He wasn’t sacked and didn’t turn the ball over.

Matt LaFleur and his coaching staff understandably shifted the offensive game plan to rely on the run. The Packers had a whopping 261 net yards rushing. Josh Jacobs carried the bulk of the load with 32 carries for 151 yards.

A hat tip to the Packers coaching staff. Yes, it was a conservative game plan. It needed to be.

Jeff Harley’s defense posted three interceptions, including the clincher by rookie Evan Williams.

Unlike against the Philadelphia Eagles, the defensive unit got the stop when needed.

And let’s not forget the special teams. Brayden Narveson kicked three field goals and Daniel Whelan is a weapon at punter.

So, the Packers are 1-1 as they go to Tennessee to face Willis’ former team. Considering they weathered a storm and won a game without Love against a desperate team, it sure looks better than 0-2.
