GREEN BAY, Wis. — Because of Jordan Love’s injury, the expectation is that Malik Willis will start at quarterback for the Packers Sunday at Noon when they host the Colts in the home opener at Lambeau Field.
Here are three things to watch in Sunday's game:
Run to daylight
Whoever the Packers’ quarterback is, Josh Jacobs, Emanuel Wilson and the Packers’ running game figures to be important.
In Week 1, the Houston Texans rushed for 213 yards against the Colts. Indianapolis and their run defense could be the biggest factor in Sunday’s game.
Familiar face
Indianapolis has designs on a strong running game as well. Former Wisconsin Badgers running back Jonathan Taylor was held to 48 yards rushing, but did have a touchdown against the Texans. Taylor rushed for over 1,000 yards each of his first two seasons in the NFL.
'Big play' Richardson
Colts quarterback Anthony Richardson relies on big plays. He had three completions of over 50 yards against Houston. He averaged over 23 yards per completion. He’s also a running threat, averaging over nine yards per carry. On the downside, the Colts ran only 43 offensive plays in their loss to Houston.
The Packers have never started 0-2 under Matt LaFleur. The last time they started 0-2 was 2006, Mike McCarthy’s first season as head coach.
