WISCONSIN — As massive data breaches and cyberattacks continue to steal the headlines, a program to get more people on to the front lines of cybersecurity in Wisconsin is about to enter its third year amid rising demand.
"In just two years, we've seen tremendous growth," said Holly Yuan, the director of University of Wisconsin-Stout's Cybersecurity Research and Outreach Center. "We have more than 120 students signed up for the cybersecurity program as of today, but I also wanted to mention that at UW-Stout, we have a wide variety of cybersecurity programs."
Yuan said the program works to incorporate training based off actual attacks, such as the one that recently crippled the Ascension health care systems for weeks.
"Recent cyberattacks like at Ascension health care just highlight the need for real-world and hands-on training," Yuan said.
