The Little White School House in Ripon recounts the background and formation of the Republican Party 170 years ago.

Ron Wright is in Wisconsin this week for the convention. He’s the treasurer with the Virginia Republican Party. He stopped in to see the museum on Monday morning.

“It’s the birthplace of the Republican Party. You’ve got to come visit,” he said. “You’re this close.”

While the days ahead will see delegates get down to the business of formally naming their presidential candidate, Wright said he hopes others get the chance to see what the state has to offer.

“I’m sure there are going to be people afterwards who come on up, especially with all the excitement going on down in Milwaukee,” he said. “They’ll be visiting other parts of Wisconsin, I’m sure. It’s a beautiful state.”
