The MPS School Board Recall Collaborative was announced on Tuesday and held a press conference Wednesday in response to the district’s woes, calling board leaders “irresponsible,” “unresponsive” and “inadequate.”

“As representatives of communities throughout the City of Milwaukee, we feel deceived, bamboozled, misled, and most importantly, robbed of quality elected leaders who are committed to leading with truth, transparency, accountability, equity, and equality,” MPS School Board Recall Collaborative said in part in a statement.

The group claimed to have sent “countless letters” to the Office of Board Governance to reach Board Members. The group also said it provided written and verbal testimonies to share concerns, has attended districtwide events, and has filed ethics and criminal complaints to authorities.

“Yet and still, we continue to be disregarded, ignored and dismissed, lied to and deceived, ostracized and silenced,” the group continued.

The collaborative said this recall effort is a direct response to the frustration around MPS.
