MILWAUKEE — Businesses in Milwaukee that are likely to be located inside the security zone for this summer’s Republican National Convention can have their questions answered by the MKE 2024 Host Committee and U.S. Secret Service.

The sessions are meant to be a casual opportunity for business owners who are likely to be inside the security zone to stop by whenever during the meet-ups to learn more about the impact of the convention from leaders of both the host committee and the U.S. Secret Service.

What You Need To Know

  • The RNC Host Committee and U.S. Secret Service are holding coffee and conversation outreach sessions during May

  • Business owners who are likely to be inside the security perimeter can stop by to have their questions answered

  • There will be a session at 600 East Cafe on May 13 and Milwaukee Public Market on May 20

During the first event held at Best Place at the Historic Pabst Brewery on Monday, those who came had the chance to ask questions about logistics in a small group setting.

“They can understand the broad perimeter from the Secret Service, who’s in charge of the security of this event,” Alison Prange, Chief of Staff and Senior Advisor for the RNC Host Committee, explained. “Questions about when the delegates will arrive, what will they be doing, what they might do to prepare to welcome all those people.”

So far, most of the questions have been about what access people will have in the perimeter, which the U.S. Secret Service is expected to share more details about in June.

“Our goal is to be as transparent as you can be with information so people can make their plans for that week,” Prange added. “The thing I would say is, do not leave Milwaukee because there’s going to be a convention. I would actually say stay in Milwaukee, try to get a chance to see what this is like.”

If you missed out on Monday, there are two upcoming events scheduled.
