MILWAUKEE — One person is dead and two others injured following a three-car crash on 27th and St. Paul in Milwaukee Tuesday night, according to the Milwaukee County Sheriff’s Office.
The crash occurred around 10 p.m. Tuesday after a deputy with the sheriff’s department attempted to pull over a vehicle, which ended up speeding off and running a red light. The fleeing vehicle struck two other cars.
A 65-year-old female in one of those cars was “critically injured” and was taken to the hospital. The 69-year-old man in that same car died. In the second vehicle that was struck, the driver was reportedly uninjured.
Police said the 24-year-old driver in the suspect vehicle that fled was initially “pulseless and not breathing.” However, the driver was later revived with lifesaving measures and is now in custody at a local hospital. The suspect driver was out on bail from Waukesha County for two open felony criminal cases. Those include 2nd degree reckless endangering safety, carrying a concealed weapon and more.
At the time of the accident, police said the suspect had a firearm and drugs on him.
The Milwaukee County Sheriff’s Office is investigating the criminal conduct of the driver, and the Milwaukee Police Department is investigating the crash.
