GREEN BAY, Wis. — The NFL has announced that the Green Bay Packers will open the season in São Paolo, Brazil against the Philadelphia Eagles.

This is the first-ever NFL game to be played in South America.

The Packers will meet the Eagles on Friday night of Week 1 of the 2024 NFL Regular Season. The NFL season kicks off on Thursday, Sept. 5.

“We're looking forward to being a part of this historic matchup against the Eagles in São Paulo," said Packers President/CEO Mark Murphy. “We're excited to play in front of our devoted fans in Brazil and help build upon the international popularity of the NFL and the Packers. We had a great experience playing internationally for the first time a couple of years ago and we're proud to be part of the league's continued global growth."

The game in Brazil is Green Bay’s second international regular-season appearance. The Packers played the New York Giants at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in London in 2022.

"The matchup between the Green Bay Packers and the Philadelphia Eagles is an extremely exciting moment for the city of São Paulo," said Mayor of São Paulo Ricardo Nunes. “These two franchises will certainly play a historic game, bringing great global visibility to our city and assist in our efforts to generate jobs and economic impact."

The game between the Packers and Eagles will take place at the Corinthians Arena. The venue is home to Brazilian soccer team the SC Corinthians. The venue also hosted both the 2014 FIFA World Cup and 2016 Olympic Games.

The matchup will air on over-the-air broadcast stations in the Green Bay market. For the rest of the state, the game in Brazil will exclusively stream on Peacock.

Five regular season games will be played as part of the 2024 NFL International Games. The Chicago Bears, Minnesota Vikings and Jacksonville Jaguars will all play in London, U.K., with opponents to be announced later. The Carolina Panthers are scheduled to play in Munich, Germany with their opponent also TBA.

The rest of the Packers 2024 schedule will be announced later this spring. Green Bay will host nine regular-season home games and one preseason home game at Lambeau Field.
