WISCONSIN — There are still over 18,000 without power following Wednesday's snowstorm in Wisconsin.
Almost all We Energies customers were restored power as of 8:30 a.m. Friday. The largest impacted regions were portions of northeastern Wisconsin.
Wisconsin Public Service is reporting over 18,000 its customers are still without power.
Amy Jahns, with WEC Energy Group, which oversees We Energies and WPS, said that broken poles and trees that have come into contact with wires are several reasons for the outages.
“It’s been quite a storm for us,” Jahns said. “We have seen about 100,000 customers from We Energies and Wisconsin Public Service that have been without power, but we’re making good progress.”
Power companies said they’re working to restore service safely for those affected. Jahns said they had restored power for 50,000 customers since Thursday.
If you’re experiencing an outage, Jahns said the best thing you can do is let them know about it.
“We don’t always know that your power is out, so it’s really important for you to let us know,” she said.
You can report an outage through WPS, here, and We Energies, here.
Jahns stressed people should not attempt to remove branches from downed power lines on their own. She encouraged people to call local law enforcement to let them know.
