MILWAUKEE — The Brewers have their home opener Tuesday at 3:10 pm. against the Minnesota Twins at American Family Field. This is home opener number 55 for the Brewers in Milwaukee.

Their first at County Stadium was in 1970. Their first home opener at what was then known as Miller Park was in 2001.

Here are three things to watch in the home opener:

Yelich as a leader

While the Brewers are going through a transition to youth, veteran Christian Yelich remains an important player. Last year in the leadoff spot,

Yelich had a positive impact on the team.

It’s been awhile since he displayed MVP form, but Yelich can still be a major catalyst.

Willy's future

There will be a lot of eyes on what the Brewers do with shortstop Willy Adames. He’s in the last year of his contract. Do the Brewers offer him an extension or do they trade him ahead of free agency so they get something for him? The decision will likely be swayed by how the Brewers’ season is going leading up to the trade deadline.

Hope in Hoskins

Maybe the biggest aspect of what the Brewers feel is an improved offense was the signing of first baseman Rhys Hoskins. The former Phillies slugger is coming off a torn ACL. The Brewers are hoping he make a big difference to increase the potency of their offense. With the changes to the starting pitching rotation, it’s likely the Brewers will need to score more and find different ways to win.

This is the third time in the last five years that the Brewers’ home opener is an interleague game.

They faced the White Sox in 2020 and the Twins in 2021.
