LAKE HALLIE, Wis. — Marshfield Clinic Health System announced it is opening urgent care services at Marshfield Clinic Lake Hallie Center to help address the expected influx of patients seeking urgent care in Chippewa Valley since the announcement of the Hospital Sisters Health Care System (HSHS) and Prevea Health closures.
Lake Hallie Center is between Eau Claire and Chippewa Falls off of Highway 53. Due to its location, Marshfield Clinic Health System leaders explained they hope this center can help expand health care access to people in western Wisconsin impacted by the closures.
Urgent care will be available for injuries and illnesses that are not life threatening but need care fast. Furthermore, this will make care accessible to tourists in the area.
“Increasing urgent care capacity in the Chippewa Valley will provide some much-needed relief in the coming months to community members looking for convenient alternatives,” Brad Groseth said in a press release. “Expanded urgent care access in the region will help decrease patient volumes in local emergency departments, as well as provide hours that might be more convenient for working families in the area.”
Groseth is the west market president at Marshfield Health System.
Marshfield Clinic Health Systems said it is committed to finding solutions to best serve western Wisconsin. The health system has already started to recruit staff to work at the Lake Hallie Center urgent care.
A timeline for the new urgent care is still being finalized.
