An Amber Alert was issued Tuesday for Elijah Vue. Two Rivers Police Department said he was last seen at a residence in the 3900 block of Mishicot Road in Two Rivers, Wis. Vue was last seen by his adult caregiver at 8 a.m. Tuesday.

Jessica Shields of Two Rivers was one of the many searching for Vue on Wednesday.

“I’m a mother of three. It’s my mother’s intuition. That’s somebody’s child,” she said. “That could have been my child. It could have been your child. It’s somebody’s child. I’m never going to sleep at night knowing that this little boy is out here. I didn’t sleep last night. How can I?”

Searchers checked swimming pools, bushes and woods around the community.

“All my worries were thinking about him. If I was a 3-year-old, where would I hide? If I was a 3-year-old, what would I do?” Shields said. “I just hope that this is one big old game of hide-and-seek and we can find him. He’ll come out and say, ‘I’m here.’ That’s what we need right now.”

People from around the state are helping with the search, including Jennifer Wheeler of Kiel.

“I was hoping that he’d be found this morning, and I saw that he was still out missing and I was like, ‘I’ve got to do something. I’ve got to go and look for him,’” she said.

Wheeler and her group searched in the woods before moving on to a residential area.

“I think there are a lot of people who care about this kid and don’t even know him,” she said.

Shields said she and other searchers have one goal and hope: Bringing the boy home.

“If you have baby Elijah, drop him off at the nearest gas station. Hell, you drop him off at my house, I don’t care,” she said. “We just want baby Elijah home safe.”
