The Wisconsin Department of Transportation (WisDOT) Division of Motor Vehicles (DMV) will send them to electric and hybrid owners. Any Wisconsinite who owns an electric or hybrid vehicle and holds a valid registration should receive a sticker by June.

As of summer 2024, any Wisconsinite who applies for a title and registration for a new electric or hybrid vehicle will receive the necessary sticker with their new plates. This includes those who purchase their vehicle at a dealership. Should someone purchase an electric or hybrid vehicle before then, a sticker will be mailed to them.

WisDOT said there is no need to contact the DMV to obtain a sticker.

WisDOT said there were about 146,000 electric and hybrid vehicles in Wisconsin in 2023.
