MADISON, Wis. — The Madison Police Department visited apartment complexes, senior living facilities and community centers throughout the city to drop off Valentine’s Day cards, flowers and candy.

Officers Candace Enis and Jesse Davila even stayed for a party at a senior living community on the city’s south side. It included music and dancing.

Resident Dale Munger said it meant a lot.

“It’s really nice that they’re doing that, because I know that this neighborhood has had a lot of challenges to it,” he said. “It’s really good.”

Davila said it’s just as meaningful for the officers.

“We can’t do our job without the community,” he said. “This is why we want to build those relationships, because we’re here for them, and they help us out.”

This has become an annual tradition for the Madison Police Department.
