GREEN BAY, Wis. — The Packers are starting their offseason with a big change.

Joe Barry will not return as Packers defensive coordinator, according to the Packers. Head Coach Matt LaFleur made the staffing change announcement on Wednesday.

“We want to thank Joe for his commitment and contributions to our success the past three seasons,” said LaFleur. “These decisions are extremely difficult and Joe is one of the best men I’ve had the opportunity to work with in this league.”

Barry, who took over for Mike Pettine, has been Green Bay's coordinator for the last three seasons. He has coached in the NFL for 22 seasons.

The Packers' defense finished 10th in points allowed and 17th in yards allowed per game in 2023, according to Pro Football Focus. The team struggled against the run this past season, allowing an average of 128.3 yards.
