GREEN BAY, Wis. — The Packers will face the Bears to finish the regular season Sunday at 3:25 pm at Lambeau Field.
There are other ways for the Packers to make the playoffs, but the simple equation is beat the Bears and they’re in. Counting playoffs, this is the 208th meeting between the Packers and Bears.
Here are three things to watch:
LaFleur's perfect record
Defeating the Bears has not been a problem for Matt LaFleur. He’s 9-0 against the Bears since taking over as the head coach of the Packers. No other coach in NFL history beat the Bears the first nine times they faced them.
The nine straight wins by the Packers is their second longest winning streak in the long series. The Packers won 10 straight over the Bears in the 1990s.
Dreaming big
If you believe in omens, you’ll love this.
This is the second time the Packers will host the Bears at Lambeau Field in the regular season finale. The other occasion was the 2010 season. The Packers needed to win to get in the playoffs that year. They did, and they ended up winning the Super Bowl.
The beginning and the end
This is the sixth time in Packers history that they’ve ended the regular season playing the same opponent that they opened the season with. The last time was 2006 against the Bears. This season, the Packers won the opener in Chicago 38-20 back on Sept. 10.
There are plenty of former Packers on the Bears. Offensive coordinator Luke Getsy, along with players Robert Tonyan, Marcedes Lewis, E.Q. St. Brown and Lucas Patrick.
