WAUPACA, Wis. — Four were killed in a wrong-way drunk driving crash in Waupaca County Saturday, according to a criminal complaint.

The criminal complaint alleges that 47-year-old Scott Farmer was driving under the influence and on the wrong side of the road when he collided head-on with another vehicle on Highway 10, which is between County Highway F and County Highway X.

Police said both vehicles had “very heavy front-end damage.”

After police arrived on the scene around 9:18 p.m., they discovered four people in the vehicle that had allegedly been struck by Farmer. That included Daniela, 9; Lilian, 14; Fabian, 23; and Daniel, 25.

Daniela, Lilian and Fabian were pronounced dead at the scene. Daniel was transported to the hospital for treatment but later succumbed to his injuries.

Farmer was not seriously injured in the crash but had to be extricated from the vehicle. Police in the criminal complaint said that he had a large bottle of vodka next to him in the car. Farmer had been driving with a revoked driver’s license due to a prior OWI conviction. He has had four prior OWIs.

He’s now being charged with a fifth OWI offense and four counts of homicide by intoxicated use of a motor vehicle.

A GoFundMe page said the victims of the crash were the children of Emmaus Lutheran Church Pastor Kurt Schilling and his wife, Paulina. Another GoFundMe page was created by the cousin of the victims, Luis Gonzalez-Quizhpe, to cover funeral and various other costs. 

The Weyauwega-Fremont School District sent a statement out to families Monday morning about the incident.

"We are truly devastated by this news," the statement reads. "Counselors will be available at each of our schools this upcoming week to speak with any students who may need some additional help processing this situation. We encourage anyone who needs assistance to meet with a counselor at any time.

"Please join us in keeping the victims’ family and friends in our thoughts at this time. Thank you for your support as we grieve together as a school district community."
