MILWAUKEE — The University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee Police Department has increased patrols amid the report of a sexual assault on campus.
Police said the victim reported the assault Tuesday, which occurred over the weekend.
The report stated the incident happened Sunday, Dec. 10, 2023 at 12:30 a.m. in a wooded area on the 2400 block of E. Edgewood Avenue. Police said the victim was walking in the area when the suspect forced her into the wooded area and assaulted her. Following the incident, the suspect fled westbound on E. Edgewood Avenue. That suspect was last seen near the intersection of N. Maryland Avenue and E. Edgewood Avenue.
UWM Police said they are investigating the assault.
Police described the suspect as a 20 to 24-year-old white male, weighing about 200 pounds with “average build.” Police said he is around 6 feet and 1 inch tall. He was last seen wearing a gray hooded sweatshirt, red flannel shirt and dark gray jeans. Police said he was armed with a knife.
