MILWAUKEE — With roughly seven months to go until the Republican National Convention (RNC) comes to Wisconsin, members of the local media got their first look at how things will be laid out inside Fiserv Forum in July.
The Fall Media Walkthrough is crucial for those in the press to get a better idea of how they will bring people at home coverage of the convention next summer.
“You’ll see behind us a sample of the stage, the podium as we like to call it, and where our Republican nominee is going to deliver [their] acceptance speech and ultimately become the next president of the United States,” Elise Dickens, CEO of the RNC Committee on Arrangements, explained. “Some of these red curtains just indicate different positions of the podium. Some of the blue curtains represent where some standup positions are going to be and where some different walls and infrastructure are going to be.”
Committee on Arrangements Chairwoman Anne Hathaway said even though the media walkthrough is a part of behind-the-scenes planning, it is one of the most important steps for people at home.
“The TV show that we’re going to produce is going to be the TV show that goes into their homes,” Hathaway added. “It will be going across the country, across the world, and it will be inspirational and motivational to electing the President of the United States next fall.”
Come Thursday morning, hundreds of members of the press will be in Milwaukee for tours of the mock setup, including tech platforms like X, formerly known as Twitter, along with Snapchat and Google.
