In late September, the Detroit Lions and their fans took over Lambeau Field. The Lions beat the Packers 34-20 and the game didn’t feel even that close. To add to the humiliation, the large number of Lions fans at the game got to celebrate at Lambeau Field. I will never forget the sight of Lions fans lingering in the stands for the Postgame Show (Amazon’s, not Spectrum News 1.)

Fast forward to Thanksgiving Day in Detroit.

The Packers humbled the first-place Lions 29-22. The Packers are now 5-6 and the Lions dropped to 8-3. The Packers deserved the win and outplayed Detroit in every way.

From winning the coin toss and electing to receive, Matt LaFleur had an aggressive game plan that paid off. Often maligned defensive coordinator Joe Barry had his finest hour, with his unit pressuring Jared Goff into mistakes and containing a potent offense.

All three phases chipped in, with Special Teams Coach Rich Bisaccia helping sniff out a Lions fake punt that backfired big-time.

To me, Jordan Love has shown enough to be the Packers long-term quarterback. His development during this season has been fun to watch. His teammates love him. Is he perfect? No. Name a quarterback who is.

With a visit from the defending Super Bowl champion Chiefs on tap, I don’t want to get too carried away. I will say this. There has been progress. Many didn’t think we’d have meaningful Packers football in December. We will.
