MILWAUKEE — Pat Murphy is expected to become the next Milwaukee Brewers manager, according to The Athletic’s Ken Rosenthal.
Rosenthal announced the news in a post on X, the social media site formerly known as Twitter, Monday night.
Brewers expected to name Pat Murphy their new manager, sources tell @TheAthletic. Murphy, Craig Counsell’s former coach at Notre Dame and his bench coach in Milwaukee from 2015 to ‘23, would become his rival in the NL Central.

Murphy has served as the Brewers’ bench coach for the past eight seasons under former Brewers manager Craig Counsell. He coached Counsell in college at Notre Dame. The two would be rivals in the NL Central.
The Chicago Cubs hired Counsell away from Milwaukee last week. He was introduced as their manager on Monday.
Murphy was the only candidate named by Brewers General Manager Matt Arnold last week when the search began for Counsell’s replacement. The Brewers have not yet confirmed the hire.
