RACINE, Wis. — Alexander Ramirez was named the next police chief for the Racine Police Department.
The Board of Police and Fire Commission appointed him to the position Nov. 2, 2023. Ramirez earned the majority vote from the board.
He previously served as the department’s interim chief of police.
Ramirez is Racine Police Department’s first Latino chief.
The appointment is effective immediately, according to the Racine Police Department. A swearing-in ceremony is in the works and a date will be announced later.
