CHICAGO — Complete dominance. Any Bears fan thinking that things were going to be different now that Aaron Rodgers was gone was sadly mistaken.
Jordan Love sparkled in his first start against the Bears, throwing three touchdowns without any turnovers as the Packers rolled over the Bears, 38-20 Sunday at Soldier Field in Chicago.
It was a regular season opener to remember for the Packers. Before leaving with a hamstring injury, Aaron Jones flipped the game with a strong third quarter.
Even with Christian Watson out with injury, the Packers offense rolled. The offensive line was terrific, shielding Love from the Bears pressure.
Meanwhile, the Packers defense contained Justin Fields and the Bears, with Quay Walker getting a pick six.
It’s just one game, but the Packers and their fans have every right to feel good about the opener. Maybe this season will be surprisingly fun instead of a frustrating transition. That still needs to play out.
The Packers are now 9-0 against the Bears under Matt LaFleur. Their record winning streak in the long rivalry is 10 straight wins in the 1990s.
