GREEN BAY, Wis. — The Packers open the regular season Sunday at 3:25 p.m. in Chicago against the Bears. Counting two postseason meetings, this will be the 207th time that the two teams will meet. The Packers now have 10 more wins in the series than the Bears.
Here are three things to watch in Sunday’s opener:
Can Love extend dominance?
Jordan Love hopes to follow in the tradition of Brett Favre and Aaron Rodgers as a Packers starting quarterback who dominated the Bears. Favre was 22-10 with the Packers against the Bears and Rodgers was even better, going 25-5 against the Bears.
Can LaFleur stay undefeated?
Packers Head Coach Matt LaFleur has not lost to the Bears since taking over in Green Bay. He’s a perfect 8-0 against Chicago. Over that span, the Packers are outscoring the Bears by 10 points per game. In his first game as Packers coach in 2019, LaFleur beat the Bears in Chicago.
Familiar faces
With the departures of Adrian Amos and Pat O’Donnell, the Packers no longer have any former Bears on their roster, but the Bears feature four former Packers, including tight ends Robert Tonyan and Marcedes Lewis.
The others are wide receiver Equanimeous St. Brown and offensive lineman Lucas Patrick. The Bears also have a pair of former Badgers linebackers, T.J. Edwards and Jack Sanborn.
This is the fifth straight year that the Packers will open the regular season on the road. They’ve won 12 of the last 13 and 24 of the last 29 games at Soldier Field.
