MILWAUKEE — Moms for Liberty announced Friday that it will host a “Give Parents a Voice” discussion with Sen. Ron Johnson, R-Wis., ahead of the GOP primary debate.
Moms for Liberty said the discussion will center on Wisconsin education data, which it called “troubling,” and “how parental involvement is key to addressing the national education crisis in America.”
The discussion will be held on Wednesday, Aug. 23, at 3 p.m., ahead of the GOP primary debate.
“We are changing our event from a candidate town hall format on the 23rd into a discussion format with Sen. Ron Johnson in order to better showcase Wisconsin parental rights leaders and the alarming education data in the state. Presidential candidates and their staff as well as policy leaders are all welcome to attend, but we know some candidates will use the afternoon to prepare for the debate that evening,” Tiffany Justice, Moms for Liberty co-founder, said in a statement. ”Our discussion will shine a light on Wisconsin’s education system and the role of parental rights in driving learning gains in the classroom. We look forward to a robust discussion.”

The group first gained momentum by opposing COVID-era school shutdowns. More recently, it’s been criticized for pushing school policies that critics say are racist and anti-LGBTQ+.
The Southern Poverty Law Center classified Moms for Liberty as a hate group.
