MADISON, Wis. — After practicing in Platteville, the Wisconsin Badgers have moved their training camp to Madison. They practiced Wednesday morning at Camp Randall Stadium.

Now running a spread offense, the Badgers know depth in the receiving corps is important. They feel they have it.

What You Need To Know

  • Now running a spread offense, the Badgers know depth in the receiving corps is important

  • Waukesha’s Chimere Dike had the most targets for the Badgers last season

  • Highly touted C.J. Williams came from USC in the transfer portal and Bryson Green is a transfer from Oklahoma State

“Man it's competitive,” said Badgers Associate Head Coach and receivers coach Mike Brown. “It's every single day, right? Like, one guy has a great day, you know, the first day and and next, then another guy's the next day and it's kind of back and forth, which is exactly what you want to see, right? I tell those guys, I make the depth chart day one, they make it from there on.”

Waukesha’s Chimere Dike had the most targets for the Badgers last season. Despite the coaching change, he never thought of leaving.

“I'm a Wisconsin kid,” Dike said. “I'm Wisconsin through and through. I grew up a Badger fan. I love the people in our locker room. I love the school, and I feel like I can compete anywhere in the country. So, it's like no matter who is coming in, no matter what the coaching staff was, I just want to be able to compete and become a better football player.”

Highly touted C.J. Williams came from USC in the transfer portal.

“I came in, I met some guys when we were on my visit,” said Williams. “I knew that these guys are people that wanted to win or ready to work, because they feel the way they kind of not necessarily recruited me, but they wanted me here.”

Slot receiver Will Pauling was with Luke Fickell at Cincinnati.

“The first thing I think you need to have to play slot receiver is you got to have a good amount of quickness, a good amount of twitch,” said Pauling. “But then, a lot of it I feel is just IQ, knowing defenses to know where people are at.”

Bryson Green is a transfer from Oklahoma State.

“Just being up here and my brother went to Minnesota,” said Green. “I know the rivalry, I know the mentality. And then on top of that, just coach Fickell coming here and then Coach Longo and Coach Brown.

"The guys have been extremely positive about it,” said Brown. “Uplifting one another, they're competing with one another. And you know, it's fun. It's fun to watch it unfold that way.”

The Badgers will open the season and the Luke Fickell era Sept. 2 at home against Buffalo.
