MIDDLETON, Wis. — The Make-A-Wish Foundation and Bruce Company in Middleton partnered up on Sunday to raise money for 7-year-old Samuel Paulson.
Sam Paulson was diagnosed with neuroblastoma, a kidney cancer that affects fewer than 50,000 people in the U.S. His dream is to take a trip to Hawaii with his family and Make-A-Wish Foundation, along with the Bruce Company, are trying to make that happen.
“I think I am going to swim with dolphins, whale watching, diving with sharks, scuba diving,” Sam Paulson said.
Sunday’s event had face painting, superheroes and various games.
His mom, Angie Paulson, said he has been doing much better over the last few years, but for a long time, things were very tough.
“He went through two and a half years of treatment, chemotherapy, radiation, two surgeries,” she said. “At this point, it is just amazing he is healthy now. He has been in remission since five and a half.”
Sam Paulson has been in remission for two and a half years, which means the signs of cancer are greatly reduced.
Angie Paulson often gets anxiety every time they have a hospital visit, but she is doing her best to live one day at a time.
“It is amazing to be able to come here, enjoy ourselves and have our healthy boy with us,” she said.
Tom Raemisch with the Bruce Company said they hit their goal at Sunday’s event and raised over $7,000, which means the family can go on their Hawaiian trip. Click here for more information.
