WISCONSIN — The Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources on Thursday issued an air quality advisory starting at 11 a.m. for several counties in the state due to ozone. The advisory is valid until 11 p.m. on Thursday.

Conditions will put several of those counties in the “orange” zone, which means it’s “unhealthy for sensitive groups.” That includes people with lung disease, children and older adults. It also means people who are active outdoors should consider reducing any prolonged or heavy outdoor exertion.

The DNR said lingering Canadian wildfire smoke is also attributing to the poor air quality.

The following counties are included in the advisory:

  • Dodge
  • Fond du Lac
  • Jefferson
  • Kenosha
  • Milwaukee
  • Ozaukee
  • Racine
  • Rock
  • Sheboygan
  • Walworth
  • Washington
  • Waukesha
