MILWAUKEE — A 9-year-old boy, now identified as Harwinder Singh, was shot and killed in Milwaukee Monday night, according to Milwaukee Police Department.

Milwaukee Police said the shooting occurred around 8:46 p.m. Monday on the 6400 block of N. 76th St. Singh was pronounced dead on the scene after sustaining a gunshot wound and succumbing to it. According to a Medical Examiner's Office report, Singh was in the back seat of a car when he was injured.

Two people, including a 14 year old and a 42-year-old male, were taken into custody after the shooting.

Police said the investigation is ongoing and that charges are pending a review by the Milwaukee County District Attorney’s Office.
